On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Pleasant Grove Community held its Juneteenth Celebration in Crawford, Mississippi. The event was hosted by the E.A.E.O.C.S., its president, Ms. Jackie Ellis, and the Juneteenth committee, and it featured great food, outstanding entertainment, and fellowship among community organizations and representatives from 55 classes. The RURAL Study (Dr. Fox, Principal Investigator) contributed blood pressure information from the American Heart Association and distributed swag bags. Ms. Dorothy Vaughn, a retired art professor from Mississippi Valley State University, led an art class for young people, and a few adults joined in as well. The paintings were collected and will be delivered to a local nursing home at Christmas.
